Dr. Kriti Saxena is a graduate of the Royal Veterinary College in London, UK. She joined the Chastain Veterinary Medical Group family in 2020. Before that, she served in other small animal & exotic veterinary clinics as a kennel assistant and veterinary assistant while completing her studies. Dr. Saxena completed multiple externships and intramural rotations focusing on small animal medicine, surgery, dermatology, and internal medicine. She also participated in several research projects that involved public health topics.
Born in India, Dr. Saxena’s family moved to Canada when she was about 4.5 years old and she grew up close to Toronto. She always loved animals and learning new things. She graduated from the University of Toronto with her Honours Bachelor of Science with High Distinction, and participated in an exchange program in her third year through the University of Edinburgh in Edinburgh, UK. That experience prompted her to include the Royal Veterinary College in London, UK in her list of veterinary school applications. She graduated July 2020 with her Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVetMed), which is the UK equivalent of our Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM).
Dr. Saxena looks forward to creating a sense of community with pet owners and partnering with them to provide the best care for their pets. She has a special interest in Veterinary Public Health, which involves the control, prevention of, and client education on zoonoses. Dr. Saxena believes that by helping animals she’s also helping their people live healthier lives, and vice versa. She also particularly enjoys soft tissue surgery, and firmly believes she’s never done learning.
Dr. Saxena is newly moved to the US and looks forward to experiencing all Texas has to offer. She already loves our famous southern hospitality. Once she settles in, Dr. Saxena will be on the lookout for that special companion. She fondly remembers growing up with the family Golden Retriever, who sadly crossed the rainbow bridge just last year. In her free time, she enjoys reading, exercising, playing the piano, and baking from time to time.
